About Me & My Approach

Hi, I’m Katrina. It’s so nice to meet you.

LICENSED MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPIST

I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, respected, and met with care. My style is warm, collaborative, and deeply relational. I don’t see therapy as something done to you, but something we do together—at a pace that feels safe and meaningful.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and tired of feeling stuck. You may understand your patterns intellectually, yet still feel hijacked by anxiety, depression, trauma responses, or relationship struggles. My role is to help you gently untangle what’s underneath those patterns and support you in reconnecting with yourself in a more grounded, compassionate way.

I welcome individuals and couples of all genders, races, sexual orientations, nationalities, and spiritual or religious backgrounds. I am committed to providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care and creating a space where all identities are respected and honored.

My Experience

I specialize in working with adults and couples navigating:

• Trauma and complex trauma (C-PTSD)
• Anxiety, chronic stress, and nervous system overwhelm
• Depression, emotional numbness, and shame
• Relationship and attachment challenges
• Life transitions, identity exploration, and burnout
• LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy
• Couples seeking deeper emotional connection through IFIO
(Intimacy From the Inside Out)

Many clients come to me after trying therapy before. While it may have been helpful, something still feels unresolved. Others are new to therapy and unsure where to begin. Both are welcome here. My work is especially supportive for people seeking transformational trauma therapy—not just symptom relief, but deeper healing and lasting change.

Together, we focus on creating internal safety, increasing emotional flexibility, and helping your system learn that the present is different from the past. Therapy with me is collaborative, non-judgmental, and tailored to your unique needs.

For couples, I use IFIO, an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach that helps partners understand each other’s inner worlds, soften reactivity, and build greater trust, intimacy, and connection.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you build a compassionate relationship with the different “parts” of you and become more Self-led.

My Approach

My work is grounded in the understanding that trauma lives not only in the mind, but in the body and nervous system. That’s why I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that goes beyond talk therapy alone.

I draw from:

My Background

After graduating with a BA in Fine Arts I spent the next 20 years of my life in New York and Los Angeles working in the fashion industry as a designer and director. Although I loved this creative work and the relationships, I built during this part of my journey, I eventually grew to feel that there was more personally meaningful work that I was meant to be doing.

I went back to school and earned my master’s in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Santa Barbara. The program emphasized authentic relationships and an understanding of diverse identities and perspectives.  At the core of this program was a strong emphasis on supporting positive individual and community change. This resonated with my heart being rooted in the value of relationships and community – that when we are attuned and caring for one another, we can grow and thrive individually and collectively.

While in school, I had the opportunity to work with Pacific Pride Foundation providing counseling to the LGBTQ+ community including individuals, families, and groups. I am trained in LGBTQ+ Affirming counseling and feel passionate about continuing to serve this population in my practice.
